Why did you want to get involved with the magazine industry?

It was because we were constantly being told time and time again, that anything black wouldn't be received well; anything black would not receive support and because many blacks born in Britain are stereotyped as being anything other than law-abiding citizens! Even blacks themselves were discouraging, which was enough to motivate the Chief Editor, Myrna Loy, to challenge these assumptions and offer opportunities to the local community to help build a platform whereby Blackbright will stimulate, educate, empower and motivate the BME community through an inspiring, creative, colourful and lighthearted publication.

What is Blackbright News and When does it come out?

Blackbright News is a Quarterly subliminal and visual learning tool, which will report on the brighter and lighter side of Black Minority Ethnic (BME) life. Blackbright News will contain feature articles on relationships, image, heritage, cultural identity, self-awareness and self-esteem. There will also be a section on how to create strong family ties and the role image and presentation plays in the workplace. Blackbright News will offer spiritual insight and teachings on property, saving and debt management (how to save for a rainy day, when it rains every day(!), and something for the men. It comes out every June, September, December and March.

Because of the personal service Blackbright offers, and because it caters for a unique target audience, Blackbright is a subscription only magazine.
